Over the last couple of weeks, we have been busier than ever booking birthday parties and answering questions about our upcoming Enchanting Fall Ball! We have booked parties as far north as Ferndale and as far south as Maple Valley and everywhere in between. It took me by surprise that when speaking with two different moms this past two weeks, they had identical comments, “we found your website online and immediately knew we had to book with your company because your Princesses look so ‘REAL!’” One of the moms stated that she had hired a Cinderella a few years ago from another company and she showed up and was pregnant. Yeah, no, that wouldn’t fly with me!
The comment about us looking so ‘real’ is something we hear all the time and we take great pride in the fact that we do look so real. When I started this company a year ago, I was very adamant that the girls I hired did not wear wigs. I would literally walk around and if I saw someone who I thought resembled a Princess, I would go talk to her. Past the fact that they have to look the part is their personality and ability to relate to kids. Most of the Princesses have their own kids or have worked with kids. I think one of the other important traits of the Princesses I hire is their knowledge of their character! I first ask them if they’ve seen their movie and then I tell them to watch it at least 20 times because the little girls at the parties, and sometimes the moms, will call you out if you don’t know your movie! LOL.
I think my favorite story of all time is when I discovered the woman who plays Mermaid. I was at a BBQ with friends and I was telling some of the people at the BBQ about Enchanting Princess Events. One of the ladies said, “well my daughter looks like The Little Mermaid.” Of course I hear this ALL THE TIME, so I kindly smiled and said, “oh really, I’d love to meet her” but of course I was not counting on anything. Sure enough she was stopping by the BBQ later and as soon as I saw her, I couldn’t believe my eyes! I hired her that night!
All of the Enchanting Princess costumes are custom made by my ‘Fairy God Mother In Law”‘and our most recent dress was made by a lady who adorns her creations with a tag that simply says, ‘Made By Grandma.’ Each costume is pieced together with different patterns usually of the medieval era and then we hand select the fabric. It’s fun finding the different patterns to make the dresses and having it all come together, but it’s very time consuming. We always get asked when we are getting this character and that character, but it’s not as simple as buying a wig, ordering a costume online and sending them out to the wolves! It takes a lot of planning to find the “real” Princess for the job!
